At the Gopher Tortoise Alliance, we believe that protecting these

incredible creatures requires collaboration, education, and action.

Since our founding, we’ve been building strong partnerships and learning

from experts to make a real difference.

We connected with the Gopher Tortoise Biologist at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission alongside the Indian River County Environmental Planning Staff to deepen our understanding and pursue solutions that

support both our community and the tortoises.

Our mission goes beyond advocacy—

we strive to work hand-in-hand with local government to create practical,

long-term strategies that protect habitat while respecting community needs.

​

We also have started establishing relationships with key wildlife organizations 

in the area, including the Humane Society of Vero Beach, Creature Safe Place,

and the Florida Wildlife Hospital.

These partnerships help us ensure that every tortoise in need receives

the care and protection they deserves.
